This is one of the better tools out there for SSH connection management in the AppStore. I found it when it was a much earlier release. The developer was very responsive and quickly addressed an issue I had found. Highly recommended. Unfortunately apple has placed some restrictions on what apps from the AppStore can and cant do, leading to some of the issues that people have experienced in the most recent versions. This would apply to most other similar apps as well.
This app helped replace the need for scripts to setup and manage all the SSH tunnels I need for development and testing. I now have a consolidated view of all my active tunnels, and can quickly manage them. Would be great if I could setup static groups (not just smart groups), but this is minor compared to how much it already does for me.
SSH Tunnel allows me to traverse two tunnels to get to my environment without the hassle of ssh’ing multiple times. I did not know how to accomplish this so i emailed the app makers and in a couple of hours i had detailed instructions on how to accomplish my task. Before i had used this app to for just basic ssh tunnels. Support is awesome
I finally found an SSH tunnel app that works the way it should. I have some fairly complicated tunneling setups and I was able to get them all working using this app. Previously, I used command line SSH along with a config file; which works great until OSX goes into sleep mode and all the ssh connections drop. Using this app, there’s no more manually reconnecting multiple tunnels every time I take a break, so I couldn’t be happier.
New to SSH, i’m getting stuck in the setup. Anywhere i can get a detailed guide, especially for use with safari?
I reeeaaally love this program. I use SSH tunnels for encrypting traffic and to connect to various servers. With the SSH Tunnel program running on startup, I never ever have to think about reconnecting my tunnels. They connect on startup now, and if I dont have network connectivity, SSH Tunnel keeps trying to connect until I do. Definitely worth the money!!
FINALLY, a tunnel manager that actually works and has a sane interface! Well worth the few dollars to quit maintaining ugly autossh scripts.
I couldn’t be happier with this app. The app developers were immediately responsive to questions, and more helpful than I would have ever expected. Worth the money!
Honestly, I think we can all agree that the quality of applications that are available on the Mac App Store are sub-par, to say the least. Granted, this is in part due to Apple’s sandboxing and restrictions for applications that developers are able to publish on the App Store. Anyways, I really don’t expect to find anything ‘useful’ on the App Store because of all this, this is especially the case for developer tools. However, SSH Tunnel had good reviews and the developer was active in the project. I gave it a chance, purchased it, and happily use it daily. The application delivers on everything listed in its description, and does it all very smoothly without issue. I am an avid user of command line utilities, for speed and ease of use, and obviously as a developer use SSH tunneling for a variety of cases. Because of the various use cases I have for SSH tunneling, I figured it’d be nice to have a frontend to manage it, and this application does that perfectly. I haven’t yet run into any limitations that have caused me to resort back to something else, which is great. tl;dr - It is a great application and one of the few in the “Developer Tools” category that will actually provide worth-while utility to a developer.
I use an SSH tunnel over SSL VPN to proxy non-work related traffic from my web browser to a machine at home. The SSH Tunnel app reacts very well to the SSL VPN tunnel going up and down as my computer sleeps and wakes up as I move from place to place throughout the day by reestablishing the SSH tunnel automatically every time. I recently contacted Codinn with a minor issue with the SSH Tunnel app and this version resolves it! Not only that but the developer followed up with me to let me know the new version had been released. I couldnt be happier.
I have tunnels I want open all day. Using the terminal the tunnels would drop multiple times a day and I was constantly having to go find the terminal session, wait for the tunnel login session to timeout, and reinitiate. Since I bought this I have not had a single time when I had to kick start a tunnel. it paid for itself immediately in saving me from losing my train of thought 10-15 times a day.
